Certified Appraisals Services

For companies in Toronto looking to refinance or reorganize their assets, a professional appraiser is needed to utilize their knowledge, experience, and other resources in order to get the best return possible.

The certified appraisers at Michaels Global Trading can provide an analysis of your assets and inventory at the manufacturing, wholesale, or retail level, giving you an accurate overview of your company for:

  • Market research
  • Asset purchase
  • Collateral review
  • Asset-based lending
  • Insurance
  • Public accounting
  • Financial management
  • Final disposition
  • Law and corporate reorganization

Types of Appraisals
Our appraisal services are tailored around each client’s individual needs. We evaluate your assets based on their age, overall condition, variety, market conditions, technological advancements, and other factors that potential buyers are likely to assess.

Our professional appraisal team can give you an accurate assessment of your assets based on several scenarios, including:

  • Forced liquidation value (auction) – If you need to sell the asset immediately at an auction, then you’ll settle at the best bidding price at the end of the auction. You can expect about 25 cents on the dollar of fair market value (FMV).
  • Orderly liquidation value (OLV) – This option is considered when you need to sell your items faster than through “normal market exposure,” like within 90 days. You can get 50 to 70 cents on the dollar of FMV.
  • Fair Market Value (FMV) – This is the full price sale, assuming that the asset will get full market exposure to get the best possible value. You can get about 100 cents on the dollar.

The Appraisal Process
When you come to Michaels Global Trading for an appraisal, our professionals will meet with you to discuss and try to understand the details of your project at no cost. During the initial consultation, we will determine whether we’re a good fit for your needs, and then plan your project according to your timelines.

Next, we will arrange a site visit to assess your fixed assets and/or inventory to determine their age, condition, and functional and economic obsolescence. Our certified team will then perform a thorough analysis of the necessary management and inventory reports, and review pricing information from multiple sources including equipment journals, online publications, used equipment dealers, and our own auction and liquidation archives.

Lastly, we give you a full report of the appraisal process, indicating the estimated value of your fixed assets and/or inventory based on general market conditions, marketability and timing issues, technological issues, and market trends and prices.

Finally, we will prepare your certified appraisal reports following the guidelines stipulated by the:

  • Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP)
  • Code of Ethics for the Machinery Dealers National Association (MDNA)
  • Procedures on Professional Appraisals, as well as Code of Ethics & Standards for the Association of Machinery and Equipment Appraisers (AMEA)

These reports can be used by public and private companies, trustees and receivers, chartered accountants, financial institutions, and credit unions.
